Sirach 23:14
Good News Translation
You might forget yourself while in the company of important people and make a fool of yourself with some foul word that comes to you naturally. Think how your parents would feel! You would curse the day you were born and wish you were dead!

New Revised Standard Version
Remember your father and mother when you sit among the great, or you may forget yourself in their presence, and behave like a fool through bad habit; then you will wish that you had never been born, and you will curse the day of your birth.

Contemporary English Version
and always remember your parents will be honored if you behave properly. Then when you meet with important people, you won't get excited and start talking like a fool and end up wishing you had never been born.
