Judith 8:23
Good News Translation
We are not going to win the favor of our enemies by surrendering to them now. If we do surrender, the Lord our God will see that we are put to shame.

For our slavery will not bring us into favor, but the Lord our God will turn it to dishonor.

They will never honor us if we are their slaves. We will only be disgraced--the Lord our God will certainly see to that.
