2 Maccabees 8:15
Good News Translation
They prayed that if God was not willing to do this for their sake alone, he might be willing to rescue them because of the covenants he had made with their ancestors, and because he, the great and wonderful God, had called them to be his people.

New Revised Standard Version
if not for their own sake, then for the sake of the covenants made with their ancestors, and because he had called them by his holy and glorious name.

If you don't want to help us for our sake alone, then do it because of the promises you made to our ancestors. After all, you are the holy and glorious God who chose them.
