2 Maccabees 7:18
Good News Translation
Then the soldiers took the sixth boy, and just before he died he said, "Make no mistake. We are suffering what we deserve, because we have sinned against our God. That's why all these terrible things are happening to us.

After him they brought forward the sixth. And when he was about to die, he said, “Do not deceive yourself in vain. For we are suffering these things on our own account, because of our sins against our own God. Therefore astounding things have happened.

Next, they tortured the sixth brother. He was almost dead when he told the men, "Don't fool yourselves! We're suffering all these terrible things because we have disobeyed our God.
