2 Maccabees 6:11
Good News Translation
On another occasion, Philip was told that some Jews had gathered in a nearby cave to observe the Sabbath in secret. Philip attacked and burned them all alive. They had such respect for the Sabbath that they would not fight to defend themselves.

New Revised Standard Version
Others who had assembled in the caves nearby, in order to observe the seventh day secretly, were betrayed to Philip and were all burned together, because their piety kept them from defending themselves, in view of their regard for that most holy day.

Contemporary English Version
One Sabbath a group of Jews gathered secretly to worship in caves not far from Jerusalem. But someone informed Philip the governor, who then had everyone burned alive. These Jews respected this most holy day so much, that they did not even try to defend themselves.
