Good News Translation
Not long after that, the king sent an elderly Athenian to force the Jews to abandon their religion and the customs of their ancestors.

Not long after this, the king sent an Athenian senator to compel the Jews to forsake the laws of their ancestors and no longer to live by the laws of God;
