2 Maccabees 5:3
Good News Translation
They were lined up in battle against one another, attacking and counterattacking. Shields were clashing, there was a rain of spears, and arrows flew through the air. All the different kinds of armor and the gold bridles on the horses flashed in the sunlight.

troops of cavalry drawn up, attacks and counterattacks made on this side and on that, brandishing of shields, massing of spears, hurling of missiles, the flash of golden trappings, and armor of all kinds.

They lined up like armies facing one another, then they attacked and counterattacked. Gold ornaments and all kinds of armor glittered and sparkled in the sunlight. Shields flashed, and spears and arrows filled the sky.
