1 Maccabees 9:10
Good News Translation
Judas replied, "Never let it be said that I ran from a battle. If our time has come, let's die bravely for our fellow Jews and not leave any stain on our honor."

New Revised Standard Version
But Judas said, “Far be it from us to do such a thing as to flee from them. If our time has come, let us die bravely for our kindred, and leave no cause to question our honor.”

Contemporary English Version
Judas answered, "We will never back down from a fight with the enemy! If it's our time to die for the honor of our nation, then let's die like heroes."
