1 Maccabees 7:9
Good News Translation
He was sent along with the godless Alcimus, whom the king had appointed High Priest; Alcimus had orders to take revenge on the Jews.

New Revised Standard Version
He sent him, and with him he sent the ungodly Alcimus, whom he made high priest; and he commanded him to take vengeance on the Israelites.

But Demetrius also appointed that worthless Alcimus to be high priest and sent him along with instructions to punish the people of Judea.
