Good News Translation
Then all the godless traitorous Jews led by Alcimus, who wanted to be High Priest, went to Demetrius.

Then there came to him all the renegade and godless men of Israel; they were led by Alcimus, who wanted to be high priest.

Alcimus, leader of the unfaithful Jews, wanted Demetrius to appoint him high priest. So one day, he and his followers went to Demetrius
