Good News Translation
Then Judas sent a friendly message to them: "Let us pass through your territory to return home. No one will harm you; we will just pass through." But they still refused to open the gates.

Judas sent them this friendly message, “Let us pass through your land to get to our land. No one will do you harm; we will simply pass by on foot.” But they refused to open to him.

Judas sent a friendly message to the town, saying, "Please let us pass through. We're on our way to Judea, and we won't make any trouble." But the people of Ephron still refused to let them in.
