Good News Translation
When Gorgias and his army reached Judas' camp that night, they found no one there. They thought Judas and his men were trying to escape, so they started looking for them in the mountains.

New Revised Standard Version
When Gorgias entered the camp of Judas by night, he found no one there, so he looked for them in the hills, because he said, “These men are running away from us.”

Contemporary English Version
Late that night, when Gorgias arrived at the camp of Judas, no one was there. He thought Judas and the others were hiding in the hills, and so he led his troops after them.

New American Bible
During the night Gorgias came into the camp of Judas, and found no one there; so he sought them in the mountains, saying, “They are fleeing from us.”
