New International Version | English Standard Version |
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, | 1Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; |
but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. | 2but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. |
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-- whatever they do prospers. | 3He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. |
Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. | 4The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. |
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. | 5Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; |
For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. | 6for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish. |
