King David forced Joab to take a census As an act of pride, King David forced Joab to take a census of men of military age. The Lord was displeased with David for this and sent a great plague. The angel of death stopped at the threshing floor of Araunah. David bought this threshing floor and offered a sacrifice to the Lord there. Later the Temple was built at this place, the same place where Abraham almost sacrificed Isaac (2 Samuel 24). araunah; threshing floor; david; census; plague; angel of death; 2 Samuel 24; temple; pride; proud; prideful; proudly; pridefulness; proudness; bighead; cockiness; overconfidence; self-assurance; dignity; face; snobbishness; contempt; scorn; insolence; smugness; brag; crow; vanity; conceit; self-esteem; egotism; self-satisfaction; vainglory; self-respect; haughtiness; arrogance; presumption; pomposity; disdain; contemptuousness; self-exaltation; assumption; self-conceit; self-complacency; reserve; self-glory; self-importance; loftiness; best; choice; cream; elite; fat; flower; prime; prize; top; pique; plume; preen; self-love; pretension; self-admiration; enjoyment; repletion; sufficiency; swagger; lordliness; condescension; boasting; boastfulness; ostentation; display; self-praise; airs; overestimation; show; ostentatious; parade; pomp; overbearance; domineering; censuses; plagues; temples; prides; dignities; faces; insolences; crows; vanities; conceits; self-satisfactions; self-respects; presumptions; reserves; choices; fats; flowers; primes; prizes; tops; plumes; pretensions; enjoyments; displays; shows; parades Bible Hub |
