While Peter was staying at the house of Simon the Tanner in Joppa, he had a vision concerning unclean animals, a symbol of Gentiles, whom Jewish people considered unclean. Messengers arrived from the Roman centurion Cornelius, so Peter went with them (Acts 10:1-48).
