Bethany today is called Azariyeh or Lazariyeh, the place of Lazarus. The village today, on the east slope of the Mount of Olives, is a mixture of present-day houses and ruins of earlier times. Bethany was the home of Mary, Martha and Lazarus. Here Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.
