Haran area, Turkey, known as Charran in ancient Mesopotamia.
Terah migrated here with his family, including Abram, Sarai, and Lot (Genesis 11 31). After Terah's death, Abram left here for Canaan (Genesis 12 1). Later Abraham sent his servant Eliezer here to find a bride for Isaac (Genesis 24 2). He met Rebekah at a well near Haran. Jacob came here to find his bride, married Rachel and Leah, and worked for his uncle Laban here for twenty years.
