Zeal, however ardent, comes short. 4. Machinery, perfect though it be — good preaching, a strong Church, all the ordinances of God's house, Sunday schools, etc. — does not convert souls or give life to the people of God.The only efficacious instrument is God's truth, the gospel of the grace of God, the gospel faithfully preached and made efficacious by the agency of the Holy Ghost, as it was at Lystra and at Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost, and as it is now wherever the conditions are faithfully observed.
