Monday Club Sermons Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. 1. It quickens the intellect, and sustains its activity. 2. It restrains from those follies and corruptions which weaken the powers, and divert from high themes. 3. This fear starts thought from the right centre and in right directions. 4. This fear is the root of that right living and wise conduct, that forethought, purity, temperance, uprightness, and obedience to God, which we may call vital knowledge; knowledge in the heart and life, as well as in the head.
