Homilist Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem… The character of Daniel is a very noble one. His princely spirit shone in his captivity. He was one of those noble natures that no circumstances can keep from rising to the proper level I. HIS UNIMPEACHABLE INTEGRITY. Not even his most virulent enemies could find occasion against him or detect a flaw. II. HIS UNFAILING FIDELITY. III. HIS UNFLINCHING COURAGE. He served his God without ostentation on the one hand or concealment on the other. IV. HIS HABITUAL PIETY. He was not hardened by his captivity nor exalted by his honour. V. HIS CHILDLIKE FAITH. He never distrusted his Lord's purposes, plans or power. (Homilist.) Parallel Verses KJV: Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. |
