John 8:28-29
Then said Jesus to them, When you have lifted up the Son of man, then shall you know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself…

It will not suffice to say I do the things which please God when I go out to worship. The Christian must aim to say "I do always." I have known some persons take a holiday from Christ's service sometimes. They say "Once a year surely one may indulge." If holiness is slavery then surely you are the slave of sin.

(C. H. Spurgeon.)
