The Greetings of the Saints Derive Value
Romans 16:21-24
Timotheus my workfellow, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you.…

I. FROM THE CHARACTER OF THOSE WHO SEND THEM.

1. They are God's children.

2. Love us for Christ's sake.

3. Seek our truest happiness.

4. Hence their good-will is better than that of the most distinguished children of this world.

II. FROM THEIR IMPORT.

1. They are not mere formalities.

2. But heartfelt wishes — and silent intercessions.

3. Whose essential meaning is expressed in ver. 24.

(J. Lyth, D.D.)
