With these, thus separate and yet one, all enemies can be repelled." So is it with the city of God, Christ's own Church. Its citizens, when they are of one mind and heart, are its unassailable bulwarks. The gates of hell cannot prevail against it. Thus, when warfare is over and victory is won, in the city of Peace, where no bulwarks can ever be needed, those who have overcome will join in — "The undisturbed song of pure consent, Aye sung before the sapphire-coloured throne."
