Ezekiel 4:9-17 Take you also to you wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and fitches, and put them in one vessel… They had sinned in excess, and God would take away their plenty. Hosea 13:6, "According to their pasture, so were they filled"; they had full pastures, fed largely, exalted their hearts, and thought they should never want; they forgot God in their fulness, and He made them to remember Him in a famine. Fulness of bread was the sin of Sodom, and the sin of Jerusalem also. God brake the staff of bread. They sinned in defiling themselves with idols, and offered meal and oil, honey and flour, for a sweet savour to their idols (Ezekiel 16), and now they must eat polluted bread among the Gentiles. (W. Greenhill, M. A.). Parallel Verses KJV: Take thou also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentiles, and millet, and fitches, and put them in one vessel, and make thee bread thereof, according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon thy side, three hundred and ninety days shalt thou eat thereof. |
