Job 19:29 Be you afraid of the sword: for wrath brings the punishments of the sword, that you may know there is a judgment. There is a judgment always proceeding, to be finally manifested when the ultimate rewards and punishments of human conduct will be assigned. A final judgment is - I. A UNIVERSAL BELIEF. II. TESTIFIED BY THE CONSCIENCE. III. NECESSARY ON ACCOUNT OF THE PRESENT INVOLVED CONDITION OF HUMAN AFFAIRS. Conditions are unequal; wickedness seems to triumph, and the wicked to prosper. The good suffer. The reward of faithful service is not attained. The Divine ways are not justified. Human conduct does not meet with due retribution. IV. To BE DREADED BY THE UNFAITHFUL. V. ANTICIPATED BY THE RIGHTEOUS. VI. LIFE TO BE HELD IN THE LIGHT OF A FUTURE JUDGMENT. - R.G.
