Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For your is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 1. This prayer looks upon evil as something separate from ourselves. 2. It regards our personal deliverance from evil as our great need. 3. It leaves with God the decision as to what is evil. 4. It leaves with God both the mode and time of the desired deliverance. 5. It recognizes our dependence on God for this desired deliverance. (F. Edwards, B. A.) Parallel Verses KJV: And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. |
