The Sin and Folly of Grieving the Holy Spirit
Ephesians 4:30
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed to the day of redemption.

I. WHAT IS HERE MEANT BY THE "HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD," AND NOW HE SEALS US TO THE DAY OF REDEMPTION.

II. WHAT IS IMPLIED IN GRIEVING HIM, AND HOW THIS IS GENERALLY DONE.

III. THE SIN, FOLLY, AND MISERABLE CONSEQUENCES OF GRIEVING THE HOLY SPIRIT.

1. The sin of it. It is an act of undutifulness and injustice.

2. The folly of it. It may be compared with the folly of grieving a friend, whose direction and help we continually want; a father, on whom we are dependent; a husband, without whom we cannot live happy.

3. The miserable consequences of sin. So far as we grieve Him, we remain ignorant, sinful, guilty, depraved, weak, and wretched.
