Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. "Go out," he responded, "and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD." And there was the LORD, passing by! A tremendous, mighty windstorm was tearing at the mountains and breaking the rocks in pieces in the presence of the LORD, but the LORD was not in the windstorm. A very powerful wind went before the LORD, digging into the mountain and causing landslides, but the LORD was not in the wind. God said, "Go out and stand in front of the LORD on the mountain." As the LORD was passing by, a fierce wind tore mountains and shattered rocks ahead of the LORD. But the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind came an earthquake.
