5 Ruben, the firstborn of Israel; his son, Hanoch, from whom is the family of the Hanochites; and Pallu, from whom is the family of the Palluites; 6 and Hezron, from whom is the family of the Hezronites; and Carmi, from whom is the family of the Carmites. 7 These are the families of the stock of Ruben, whose number was found to be forty-three thousand and seven hundred thirty.
