1 Then the Israelites (God prevails) traveled on and camped in the plains of Moab (of his father) near the Jordan (flowing down), across from Jericho (city of palms). 2 Now Balak (devastator) son of Zippor (sparrow) saw all that Israel (he wrestles with God) had done to the Amorites (sayers), 3 and Moab (of his father) was terrified of the people because they were numerous.
