1 And it came to pass on the second Sabbath, He was going through the cornfields; and His disciples were plucking the ears, and eating, shelling them out with their hands. 2 And certain ones of the Pharisees said to them, Why are you doing that which is not lawful to do on the Sabbath? 3 Jesus responded and said to them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was hungry, and those being with him? 4 How he entered into the house of God, and how he took the shewbread, and ate it, and gave it to those with him; which is not lawful to eat, except the priests only?
