4 And he flees to one of these cities, and stands at the entrance of the gate of the city, and declares in the ears of the elders of that city his case, and they shall take him into the city as one of them and give to him a place, that he may dwell among them.

5 And if the avenger of the blood pursues after him, they shall not shut up the manslayer into his hand, because without knowing he struck his neighbor; he did not hate him from yesterday and the day before yesterday.

6 And he shall dwell in that city until he stands before the face of the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the high priest who is in those days. Then the manslayer may return and come to his own city and his own house, to the city from which he fled.”
