1 In the beginning was the Word {Logos}, and the Word was with God {Theon}, and the Word was God {Theos}. 2 He was with God {Theon} in the beginning. 3 Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome (comprehended) it. 6 There came a man who was sent from God {Theou}. His name was John (YHWH is gracious). 7 He came as a witness to testify about the Light, so that through him everyone might believe. 8 He himself was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.
