1 MOREOVER Job continued his parable, and said, 2 O that I were as in months past, as in the days when God took care of me; 3 When he put his worship high upon my head, when his lamp shone over me; and when by his light I walked through darkness. 4 O, that I were as in the days when I was in favor, when God abode in my tabernacle; 5 When the Almighty was yet round about me in my youth; 6 When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil; 7 When I went out to the gate of the city and called on the people; and sat down like a poor man in the street, 8 The young men saw me and hid themselves; and the aged arose, and respected me. 9 The nobles held their peace, and laid their hands on their mouth.
