17 By faith Abraham (father of many), when he was tested, offered up Isaac on the altar. He who had received the promises was ready to offer his one and only son (only begotten son), 18 even though God had said to him, “Through Isaac (he will laugh) your offspring (seed) will be reckoned 19 Abraham reasoned that God {Theos} could raise the dead, and in a sense, he did receive Isaac back from death.
