1 After David had finished speaking with Saul (desired), the souls of Jonathan (YHWH has given) and David (beloved) were knit together, and Jonathan loved him as himself. 2 And from that day Saul (desired) kept David with him and did not let him return to his father’s house. 3 Then Jonathan (YHWH has given) made a covenant with David (beloved) because he loved him as himself. 4 And Jonathan (YHWH has given) removed the robe he was wearing and gave it to David (beloved), along with his tunic, his sword, his bow, and his belt. 1 Samuel 18:1-4, Berean Annotated Bible.
