1 Chronicles 15:1-8 ▼

1 And he built for himself houses in the City of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.

2 Then David said, “No one may carry the ark of God but only the Levites. For YHWH has chosen them to carry the ark of YHWH and to minister before Him even to forever.”

3 And David gathered together all Israel to Jerusalem to bring up the ark of YHWH to its place, which he had prepared for it.

4 And David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites:

5 Of the sons of Kohath: Uriel the chief, and of his brothers a hundred and twenty;

6 of the sons of Merari: Asaiah the chief, and of his brothers two hundred and twenty;

7 of the sons of Gershom: Joel the chief, and of his brothers a hundred and thirty;

8 of the sons of Elizaphan: Shemaiah the chief, and of his brothers two hundred;
