AND David built citadels for himself in the city of David, and also built a place for the ark of the LORD and for the instruments of the tabernacle.

Then David commanded the Levites to carry the ark of the LORD and the instruments of the tabernacle; for the Levites the LORD had chosen to minister and to carry the ark of the LORD, and to look after it for ever.

And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD to the place which he had built for it.

And David assembled the descendants of Aaron and the Levites:

Of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the elder and his brethren, a hundred and twenty;

Of the sons of Merari, Ashiel the elder and his brethren, two hundred and twenty;

Of the sons of Gershon, Joel the elder and his brethren, a hundred and thirty;

Of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the elder and his brethren, two hundred;

Of the sons of Hebron, Eliab the elder and his brethren, eighty;

Of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the elder and his brethren, a hundred and twelve.

Then David called for Zadok the priest and Abiathar, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Amsah, Joel, Asaiah, Shemaiah, Uriel, and Amminadab,

And said to them, You are the chiefs of the fathers of the Levites; sanctify yourselves, both you and your brethren, that you may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel to the place which has been built for it before,
