A wise son maketh the father glad: but a foolish son is the sorrow of his mother. The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother. The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.
Treasures of wickedness shall profit nothing: but justice shall deliver from death. Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death. Ill-gotten treasures have no lasting value, but righteousness delivers from death.
The Lord will not afflict the soul of the just with famine, and he will disappoint the deceitful practices of the wicked. The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked. The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.
The slothful hand hath wrought poverty: but the hand of the industrious getteth riches. He that trusteth to lies feedeth the winds: and the same runneth after birds that fly away. A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.
He that gathered in the harvest is a wise son: but he that snorteth in the summer, is the son of confusion. He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame. He who gathers crops in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.
