In the second year of the reign of Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, stating In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came by the hand of Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest: In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying, In the second year of Darius the king, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the LORD came by the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying, In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest:
that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “These people say, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.’ ” “Thus says the LORD of hosts: These people say the time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.” Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built. “This is what the LORD of armies says: ‘This people says, “The time has not come, the time for the house of the LORD to be rebuilt.”’” This is what the LORD Almighty says: “These people say, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the LORD’s house.’”
Then the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet, saying: Then the word of the LORD came by the hand of Haggai the prophet, Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying, Then the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet, saying, Then the word of the LORD came through the prophet Haggai:
“Is it a time for you yourselves to live in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins?” “Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins? Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste? “Is it time for you yourselves to live in your paneled houses while this house remains desolate?” “Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?”
Now this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways. Now, therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: Consider your ways. Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. Now then, the LORD of armies says this: “Consider your ways! Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways.
You have planted much but harvested little. You eat but never have enough. You drink but never have your fill. You put on clothes but never get warm. You earn wages to put into a bag pierced through.” You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes. You have sown much, only to harvest little; you eat, but there is not enough to be satisfied; you drink, but there is not enough to become drunk; you put on clothing, but there is not enough for anyone to get warm; and the one who earns, earns wages to put into a money bag full of holes.” You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways. “Thus says the LORD of hosts: Consider your ways. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. The LORD of armies says this: “Consider your ways! This is what the LORD Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways.
Go up into the hills, bring down lumber, and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified, says the LORD. Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house, that I may take pleasure in it and that I may be glorified, says the LORD. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD. Go up to the mountains, bring wood, and rebuild the temple, that I may be pleased with it and be honored,” says the LORD. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build my house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the LORD.
You expected much, but behold, it amounted to little. And what you brought home, I blew away. Why? declares the LORD of Hosts. Because My house still lies in ruins, while each of you is busy with his own house. You looked for much, and behold, it came to little. And when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? declares the LORD of hosts. Because of my house that lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with his own house. Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house. “You start an ambitious project, but behold, it comes to little; when you bring it home, I blow it away. Why?” declares the LORD of armies. “It is because of My house which remains desolate, while each of you runs to his own house. “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the LORD Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house.
Therefore, on account of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth has withheld its crops. Therefore the heavens above you have withheld the dew, and the earth has withheld its produce. Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit. Therefore, because of you the sky has withheld its dew, and the earth has withheld its produce. Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops.
I have summoned a drought on the fields and on the mountains, on the grain, new wine, and oil, and on whatever the ground yields, on man and beast, and on all the labor of your hands.” And I have called for a drought on the land and the hills, on the grain, the new wine, the oil, on what the ground brings forth, on man and beast, and on all their labors.” And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands. And I called for a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on what the ground produces, on mankind, on cattle, and on all the products of the labor of your hands.” I called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the olive oil and everything else the ground produces, on people and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands.”
Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, as well as all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God and the words of the prophet Haggai, because the LORD their God had sent him. So the people feared the LORD. Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him. Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, just as the LORD their God had sent him. And the people showed reverence for the LORD. Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and the whole remnant of the people obeyed the voice of the LORD their God and the message of the prophet Haggai, because the LORD their God had sent him. And the people feared the LORD.
Haggai, the messenger of the LORD, delivered the message of the LORD to the people: “I am with you,” declares the LORD. Then Haggai, the messenger of the LORD, spoke to the people with the LORD’s message, “I am with you, declares the LORD.” Then spake Haggai the LORD'S messenger in the LORD'S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD. Then Haggai, the messenger of the LORD, spoke by the commission of the LORD to the people, saying, “‘I am with you,’ declares the LORD.” Then Haggai, the LORD’s messenger, gave this message of the LORD to the people: “I am with you,” declares the LORD.
So the LORD stirred the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, as well as the spirit of all the remnant of the people. And they came and began the work on the house of the LORD of Hosts, their God, And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people.
