| 2 | While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, |Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.| | While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” | While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” | |
| 3 | Then, after they had fasted and prayed and placed their hands on them, they sent them off. | Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. | So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off. | |
| 4 | So Barnabas and Saul, sent out by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. | So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. | The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus. | |
| 5 | When they arrived in Salamis, they began to proclaim the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. (Now they also had John as their assistant.) | When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John to assist them. | When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper. | |
