1 But know this: Hard times will come in the last days. But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.

4 traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—
5 holding to the form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people. having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
6 For among them are those who worm their way into households and deceive gullible women overwhelmed by sins and led astray by a variety of passions, For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires,

8 Just as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so these also resist the truth. They are men who are corrupt in mind and worthless in regard to the faith. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected.
9 But they will not make further progress, for their foolishness will be clear to all, as was the foolishness of Jannes and Jambres. But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men. But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
10 But you have followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, and endurance, You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,
11 along with the persecutions and sufferings that came to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured—and yet the Lord rescued me from them all. my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. 12 In fact, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
13 Evil people and impostors will become worse, deceiving and being deceived. while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed.
