And we ask you, brothers, in regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together to Him, Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters,
that you are not quickly shaken in mind, nor be troubled, neither through spirit, neither through word, neither through letters as through us, as that the Day of the LORD has arrived; not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come.
do not let anyone deceive you in any way, because if the departure may not come first, the man of lawlessness may [not] be revealed—the son of destruction, Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.
who is opposing and is raising himself up above all called god or worshiped, so as for him to have sat down in the temple of God, proclaiming that he is God. who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
Do you not remember that, yet being with you, I said these things to you? Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things?
And now, you have known what is restraining, for his being revealed in his own time, And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time.
for the secret of lawlessness already works, only the [One] now restraining [will do so] until He may come out of [the] midst, For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.
and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the LORD will consume with the Spirit of His mouth, and will nullify at the appearance of His coming, And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.
whose coming is according to the working of Satan, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders, The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie,
and in all deceitfulness of the unrighteousness in those perishing, because they did not receive the love of the truth for their being saved, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
and because of this God will send to them a working of delusion, for their believing the lie, Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie
that they may be judged—all who did not believe the truth, but were well pleased in the unrighteousness. in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
And we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brothers, beloved by the LORD, that God chose you from the beginning to salvation, in sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth, But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.
to which He called you through our good news, to the acquiring of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ; To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
so, then, brothers, stand fast, and hold the traditions that you were taught, whether through word, whether through our letter; So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter. So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.
and may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who loved us, and gave continuous comfort, and good hope in grace, Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope,
comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work. comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
