1 Now Solomon decided to build a house for Yahweh’s name, and a house for his kingdom. Now Solomon purposed to build a temple for the name of the LORD, and a royal palace for himself. Solomon gave orders to build a temple for the Name of the LORD and a royal palace for himself.
2 Solomon counted out seventy thousand men to bear burdens, eighty thousand men who were stone cutters in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred to oversee them. And Solomon assigned 70,000 men to bear burdens and 80,000 to quarry in the hill country, and 3,600 to oversee them. He conscripted 70,000 men as carriers and 80,000 as stonecutters in the hills and 3,600 as foremen over them.
