THE word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah; when he wrote these words on a scroll as Jeremiah dictated, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,
Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning you, O Baruch:
You said. Woe is me! for the LORD has added grief to my sorrow; I am weary in my sighing and I find no rest.
Thus shall you say to him: Thus says the LORD: Behold that which you have built I will break down, and that which you have planted I will pluck up. I am laying waste the whole land.
And as for you who once sought great things for yourself, seek nothing that is of great value: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, says the LORD, but I will let you save your life in all countries where you go.
