Many Disciples Forsake Him
Interwoven Gospels

Then many of His disciples, when they heard Him, said, "This saying is hard; who is able to hear it?" But Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples are murmuring at this, said to them, "Do ye stumble at this? What, then, if I say, Ye shall see the Son of man ascending to where He was before? It is the spirit that maketh alive; the flesh profiteth nothing; the words which I have spoken to you, they are spirit and they are life. But there are some of you who believe not." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who it was that should betray Him. And He said, "Because of this I said to you, that no one can come to Me, unless it be given him from the Father."

From this time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Jesus, therefore, said to the twelve, "Ye are not also wishing to go away?" Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast words of everlasting life. And we have believed and know that Thou art the Holy One of God."

Jesus answered them, "Did not I choose you, the twelve? And one of you is a devil!" Now He spake of Judas, son of Simon Iscariot; for he, one of the twelve, was about to betray Him. After these things, Jesus continued to sojourn in Galilee; for He did not choose to sojourn in Judea , because the religious leaders were seeking to kill him.
