Johns Introduction
Interwoven Gospels

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has been made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness apprehended it not.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, that he might testify of the Light, that all might believe through him. He was not the Light, but came that he might testify of the Light. The true Light, that lighteth every man, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world knew Him not. He came to His own, and His own received Him not; But as many as received Him, He gave to them the right to become children of God'to them that believe in His name: who were born, not of human blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; and we beheld His glory'glory as of the Only Begotten from a Father.

John testified of Him, and cried, saying: "This was He of whom I said, 'He that cometh after me hath become before me'; because He was before me; for from His fullness we all received, and grace upon grace." For the law was given through Moses; the grace and the truth came through Jesus Christ. No man ever yet saw God; but the Only Begotten Son, who is ever with the Father, He hath revealed Him.
