Reuben Larson (born June 13, 1897)

Reuben Larson was born at a time when much of the world remained beyond the reach of regular Christian witness. Remembered as a missionary pioneer, he carried a conviction that the gospel is not a private comfort but a public proclamation—meant for every people and place. His life reflected the missionary virtues Scripture commends: endurance in hardship, courage in the face of distance and delay, and a steady confidence that God can use ordinary servants to do extraordinary good.

Larson’s legacy is tied to a practical faith. He did not merely admire the Great Commission in principle; he sought methods that could press Christ’s message into new frontiers where missionaries were few and travel was slow. His example encourages later believers to treat new tools not as threats, but as opportunities for faithful witness.

Clarence W. Jones

Clarence W. Jones served alongside Larson as a co-laborer marked by vision and resolve. In an era of rapid technological change, Jones shared Larson’s belief that the Lord could harness emerging media for holy purposes. Their partnership illustrates a pattern often seen in effective ministry: shared doctrine, united prayer, and complementary gifts focused on a single aim—the spread of the saving message of Jesus Christ.

World Radio Missionary Fellowship (founded 1931)

In 1931, Larson and Jones co-founded the World Radio Missionary Fellowship (WRMF), persuaded that radio could carry the gospel farther than any one preacher could travel. The airwaves became, in their hands, an avenue of witness—reaching listeners across borders, time zones, and social barriers. This work required more than innovation; it demanded faith for provision, patience for slow results, and moral clarity to keep the message central: Christ crucified and risen, calling sinners to repentance and faith.

Their mission resonates with the Scripture’s own emphasis on gospel urgency: “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). And the gospel they proclaimed remained the same timeless good news: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Opa Locka, Florida (headquartered since 1969)

Since 1969, WRMF has been headquartered in Opa Locka, Florida, continuing a vision of worldwide proclamation. From that base, the fellowship’s identity has remained clear: to use available means, under God’s providence, to help carry Christ’s saving message to the unreached.
