Wisdom 19:3
Good News Translation
While the Egyptians were still mourning at the graves of their dead, they forgot why all this had happened, and they foolishly decided that the people they had begged to leave were runaways. So they chased after them. They were led into this as part of the punishment they deserved, so that they would suffer the rest of the torments they were due to receive.

New Revised Standard Version
For while they were still engaged in mourning, and were lamenting at the graves of their dead, they reached another foolish decision, and pursued as fugitives those whom they had begged and compelled to leave.

Contemporary English Version
As a matter of fact, they made this foolish decision even before they had finished mourning for their dead. Then they started pursuing those very people they had begged and even forced to leave.

New American Bible
For while they were still engaged in funeral rites and mourning at the burials of the dead, They adopted another senseless plan: those whom they had driven out with entreaties they now pursued as fugitives.

Douay-Rheims Bible
For whilst they were yet mourning, and lamenting at the graves of the dead, they took up another foolish device: and pursued them as fugitives whom they had pressed to be gone:
