Wisdom 18:13
Good News Translation
These people had paid no attention to any warning, but relied instead on their magical powers. But when their first-born sons were killed, then they recognized that Israel was God's son.

For though they had disbelieved everything because of their magic arts, yet, when their firstborn were destroyed, they acknowledged your people to be God’s child.

The Egyptians had been deceived by displays of magic. However, after the death of their first-born sons, they realized that we were the children of God.
